How Zedo sources and checks listings
Property fraud is a real risk in Nigeria, so here is plainly what Zedo does about it, and what it does not do. A listing on Zedo is a starting point for your own checks, not a guarantee.
Where listings come from
Listings are posted on Zedo by agents, landlords, developers and owners with an account. Zedo shows only listings posted on Zedo. Listings collected from other property websites are not shown to visitors.
Who is checked
An account can be identity-verified. The person shows a government ID and takes a live selfie, and Zedo's identity partner, SmileID, checks that the ID is real and that the face matches. A Verified badge appears next to the person's name on their listings and profile. Read how verification works.
What is not checked
- Zedo does not inspect properties, so a listing may not match what you find when you visit.
- Verification does not prove ownership or that the title documents are clean. Ask to see them, and read which documents to check before buying land in Lagos.
- Prices are asking prices set by the person listing. Zedo does not set or guarantee them, and they are not sale prices.
Reporting a listing
If a listing looks fake, is a duplicate or is no longer available, report it from the listing when you are signed in, or write to hello@zedo.cc with the link. Reports go to the Zedo team, who review them and can hide or remove a listing.
Staying safe
- See the property in person before you pay anything.
- Pay only to a person you have met and a name you have checked, never to a stranger who says they are "out of town".

It means the person behind the account has proved who they are: they showed a government ID and took a live selfie, and Zedo's identity partner, SmileID, checked that the ID is real and that the face matches it. It is a check on the person. It is not an inspection of a property.
No. Zedo does not inspect properties, and a Verified badge does not prove that a property exists as described, that the person owns it, or that the title documents are clean. See the property in person, ask to see the documents, and do not pay before you have.
The person listing the property. A price on Zedo is an asking price, not a sale price, and Zedo does not set or guarantee it. Rents are shown per year unless the listing says otherwise.
When you are signed in, use the report option on the listing. You can also write to hello@zedo.cc with the link. Reports of fake, duplicate or unavailable listings go to the Zedo team, who review them and can remove or hide a listing. Do not send money to anyone you have not met, whatever the listing says.
